Cutting Down the Christmas Tree

We were a week late this year. But finally one Sunday we headed out for the perfect tree. I helped my mom make a picnic and we packed up all our snow gear. I thought my mom was crazy when she put our snow boots, gloves, hats and coats in the truck. Our grass was still green! But good thing she did. When we got to Holden canyon there was SNOW! We drove along way up the mountain before we stopped. On our way we saw lots of deer and even a bald eagle. After we stopped we hiked around looking for the right one. I was the finder. Everyone agreed that the tree I found couldn't be beat. So my dad got out the chainsaw and went to work. On our way down the mountain we stopped for a picnic and some gun shooting. That sure was fun!! It really was a great day. Where did you get your Christmas tree this year?

The Day After Thanksgiving

The day after Thanksgiving we always make gingerbread houses. My grandma has made an awesome tradition of decorating houses every year after thanksgiving. She even invites all my cousins and my mom's sisters. This year the houses turned out great. Every one was unique. Mine had a roof of m&ms and an ice rink on the side. This was the first year I was old enough to do most of the decorating on my own. What is your tradition for Thanksgiving weekend?

Thanksgiving with family.

This Thanksgiving I was lucky because my cousin Emma was staying with us. She decided she did not want to spend the holiday in Las Vegas watching her brother Troy play hockey. We had a ton of fun and she even spent Thanksgiving day with us. We went to my grandparents. My grandma is an amazing cook. So we ate and ate and ate. It was fun to see my cousins and family. My grandpa surprised us with a super fun horse buggy ride we rode all around town. I was lucky because we saw my teacher at her in laws and my friend Savanna at her grandparents. I was very thankful that say. What were you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

I have the best grandma ever!

On a Saturday in early November my grandma let me make apple sauce with her. We made different kinds with different spices. She even made extra for me to give to my grandpa Phillips. She is a wonderful grandma. She teaches me all kinds of awesome stuff. I am super lucky! What kinds of things have you learned from your grandparents??

Luke

Oh it was a great day!! I had been asking for a dog for what seems like forever. My mom let me stay up late waiting for his arrival. My dad pulled in and I ran out and saw the cutest puppy ever. Mom and dad had already let me pick his name, Luke. He is going to be a great buddy!!! Do you have a favorite pet? Tell me about it.

Last Camping Trip of the Year

The first weekend of November we had our last camp out of this year. There were leaves everywhere. It was perfect weather. After the sun came up we went for a little hike. We threw lots of rocks into the stream. And my brother and I put on a play for my mom about nature. But the best part was after we left we went down to Kanosh and met our soon to be new puppy. He was 7 weeks old.... One more week and he would be my new dog Luke. What a great weekend. What did you do to celebrate the end of Fall?

Happy Halloween

This year Halloween was awesome! The first party was Monday at music. My brother and I decided to dress up in old costumes and save our real ones for real Halloween. On Halloween day we had a party at school. I liked the parade best. I loved seeing all the costumes at school. Later that evening we had a party at my house. My whole family dressed as super heroes. My cousins and grandma came along with lots of neighborhood friends. We made witches brew, killed a piƱata, and ate lots of candy!!! Later that night I went trick or treating with my cousins. It was a great Halloween!!! What did you do??

Blame it on the Mop!!

Dear Readers, I am sorry that I have not blogged for a month. Just before Halloween my mom was mopping the floor and dropped her phone into the mop bucket. When that happened she lost all her passwords ( my password) and login information. So it has taken me awhile to get things back. I thought it safer to blame it on the mop than blame it on my mother. Please watch for make-up posts. What have you been doing this past month?

My hunting adventure!!

So this weekend was the beginning of the deer hunt. For me, that means camping with my Papa, my family and my cousins. I don't actually hunt, unless you count taking my baby brother "bear hunting". Most people call that hiking:) This year my dad let me shoot his gun at cans and bottles . It was fun. I was a good shot. I also loved playing hide and seek in and around Papa's barn. I have to say I am a pretty good hider.

Everyone was so excited when the guys shot a deer. But I didn't like it because I thought it was mean. I did like to help clean it because I learned all about the inside. I saw the wind pipe, heart, liver, stomach and so much more. It was fascinating.
Thank you for reading my blog. I love to hear new people that talk about it. If you have a chance tell me what you love to do in the fall.

Lovin the Leaves

Today was such a great fall day! When we woke up it was cold but by afternoon I didn't need a jacket. Actually it was so nice that we went on an afternoon walk in the mountains. I took a big ziplock bag to hold all the treasures I found. I found many many awesome leaves, two snail shells, many unique rocks, and one zebra striped feather. I love the outdoors.

Whoa it's been awhile.

Sorry that I have been slacking on my blog. I have been so busy with the start of this school year. Also when I want to blog my mom isn't always ready, so it is also her fault.
I love this time of year. My mom, my brothers and I decorated for Halloween the last week of September. My dad thought we were starting too early but we couldn't wait. Our neighbor gave us corn stalks and we picked out all kinds of pumpkins. We are ready for the holiday!
I was also lucky enough to be invited to my friend's birthday party. I only get to see her a few times a year and it was awesome. We went to a gym and played on trampolines, bars, and mats. It was a great day! Thanks Corrine!
Other than that I have spent a lot of time with my brothers playing outside. I have been practicing climbing our rope outside and can finally reach the top. It is scary coming down though.
I will do better to keep up on my blog. What have you been up to????

Lehman's Cave

This weekend I was lucky enough to go camping. I went with my family and grandma and grandpa. We went to celebrate Grandpa's birthday.
We drove to the Great Basin National Park. Our camp site was at the top of Mt. Wheeler. It was beautiful. I saw a lot of chipmunks. Some actually climbed on my dad's legs when he was reading.
My brother and I made a play area around our camp. I made a teeter totter, an obstacle course and grandpa made a swing out of rope! It was awesome.
Saturday morning we went to Lehman's cave. I was surprised that there was a door on the cave. I thought it would be a big hole. I saw "historical graffiti". Some of the first explorers left their initials with candles. The best part was that the ranger told us the cave was still alive and growing. We saw water dripping off the beautiful formations.
Back at camp I played cards and dominoes with my family. Then my dad taught me how to use a slingshot. It was fun. I also went exploring. I loved playing in the stream that we found.
Sunday morning when we woke up we saw the chipmunks stealing our crumbs. I set a trap but never caught one.
It was a great weekend!! Tell me your favorite place to camp.

A super busy day!

Yes, I had a super busy day. School was great. I jumped rope with my friend Amber. It is my new favorite recess activity.
After school my moon took me to get a hair cut. We compromised. I didn't want it cut and my mom wanted me bald. So we went somewhere in between.
Right after the hair cut we were off to singing class. It was the first class of the year. I liked being back with my singing friends.
After singing I went home and had to do homework until piano lessons. I love piano lessons because I have such a nice teacher.
When things settled down I planned a scavenger hunt for my mom. I left her notes and clues all over the house. It was fun!!
Yes , it was a very busy day!! What makes your day busy and crazy??

Life is good!

One of my favorite things to do is go on a bike ride with my brother after dinner. On Tuesday we stopped at a little bridge and did some exploring.
Today I started swim lessons again. It was awesome. After lessons I jumped off the high dive over and over. I love swimming!
What do you love doing this time of year???

A great Labor Day!

Today I woke up excited and ready for the best day. I knew we were going to Papa's. We drive to the farm and caught the horses. I rode my horse, Princess. We rode for about an hour and then got off to look for arrow heads and Indian pottery. I found some great treasures.
After horse riding we went to town for lunch, games and the rodeo. I ran in the foot race and dug in the pit for money.
At the rodeo I was the first sheep rider to start out the fun. I hung on better this year than last. Next year I'll be even better. The next event for kids was the money cow. I chased that cow all over the arena. Then I finally caught it and pulled $2 off. What a great Labor Day!!!

It's been awhile!!

Sorry that I haven't been blogging this week. The life of this second grader is full!! My weekend was fun. I got to give a talk to a whole bunch of grown-ups on Sunday. It was so much fun being in the spotlight.
Yesterday school was awesome and when I got home my mom said we were eating dinner up the canyon. We roasted hotdogs, played games in the trees and ate yummy s'mores! Great start to my week.

A Much Better Day.

Today at school our teacher took us to the library. Also I was able to play with my friends outside. We have three recesses and that is awesome. At the end of the day I got to ride the bus home for the first time in my life. It was fun.
After school our dance group had a party at the pool. So me and my brothers were able to have one last day at the pool. It was so much fun swimming with friends.
Tell me what you are doing to celebrate the end of summer?

Farmer's Market

Friday night my grandma picked me up so that we could have an early start for the farmers market in Salt Lake. It was so much fun! We bought bread, fruit tarts and lots of fresh fruit.
Later that afternoon we made the best jam ever. I think I'll eat it every day until its gone. I really have the best grandma!!
I also had an exciting Sunday! My dad finished the treehouse. It is awesome. It has a roof and a porch! I finished it off with a rope letter carrier. Feel free to drop by and send a letter up the rope.
I hope you had a great weekend too! Tell me what you did!

Today I spent the day with my cousin Leah! It was her birthday. When she arrived I had the whole room decorated. We also played games, made cupcakes and did make-up! I hope she had as much fun as I did.

Summer Party for Us!

On Tuesday I surprised my mom and brother with a summer party. I made candy kabobs, lemonade, and magic fruit bowls. We played with water and in the tree house. I was also prepared with prizes. My mom won crystal light and my brother won suckers. It was FUN!
