A Fun Track Season

This was my first year trying track and field. I really liked it. It was fun to practice with my friends and learn from the high school track team. My favorite part was always the standing long jump. I think I'll  really practice that for next year. Today we had our end of season party. We had ice cream bars and played dodgeball. I can't wait until next year.

Splashing Around on a Very Hot Day

After tumbling we thought we were headed home. But on the way my mom stopped at a splash pad. She brought our suits and didn't even tell us! We were so happy. It was a very hot day and the cold water was awesome. I liked putting my foot over the spout to try to stop the water. Ladd liked karate chopping the towers of water. Jack liked coping us. What do you like to do on a splash pad?

Checking Out New Parks

We decided this summer we would check out the parks in the towns around us. Last week we went to the Spanish Fork park. It was really fun! It had all kinds of fun exploring equipment. Also it had some shade which is unusual for playgrounds. I highly recommend you check out this one. Where
is your favorite city park?

Hiking in Pole Canyon

Our first official hike of the summer was up Mnt. Nebo's Pole Canyon. We took a picnic lunch and had an adventure. My mom designated me the nature guide. I chose where we went. We walked down to the creek and found a little cave under tree roots. We could tell that some sort of animal likes to sleep there. We decided that it was a mountain lion. Then we had to throw a couple of hundred rocks into the creek. After that we hiked up a hill and picked up a lot of sticks and gave my mom a lot of flowers to put in her hair ( don't tell the forest ranger). It was a fun little hike. Where do you like hiking?

A Pulley in the Treehouse

My brother, Ladd got a pulley from my grandma for his birthday. We decided the best place for it was the treehouse. My dad helped us put it up and boy was it fun. The biggest thing we pulled up was my baby brother's car. Why? Because we could! It is super fun to use and makes us feel strong:) What do you think we should pull up?

The End of Second Grade

Another school year behind me. Second grade was the best so far. I had an amazing teacher, who I just want to take with me. The last week of school we had field day, awards assembly, and a lot of cleaning. Field day was mostly a really long recess. It was fun to be outside playing with my friends for so long. At the awards assembly I received two awards: reading and high test scores. I will miss my second grade class and teacher. What will you miss about this past school year?

My First Track Meet

I had my first track meet in early May. I was very excited. I didn't win, but I had a super fun time. I also learned a lot from watching other people. I was able to participate in 4 events. I choose the 50 meter dash, the 100 meter dash, the 4 man relay and the standing long jump. The standing long jump was my favorite.
This has been my first year participating in track and I love it!! What spring sport so you love?

Happy To Be On My Bike

It was a long winter and my brothers and I were super happy to be back on our bikes. We have a little routine of going for a bike ride after dinner. It is fun now that Ladd can keep up with me. Of course we still have to wait for mom and Jack at the end of every block. But that is ok because we are just happy to be riding again. What did you miss during the winter months?

Spring Break Adventures

Spring break this year was amazing. One of the days I met my cousins Will and Wren at the Planetarium. It was really fun. We walked on Mars and the Moon. On another day I went riding horses with my family. I rode my horse,Princess. We went out to the sand dunes on my grandpa's farm. We always look for pieces of Indian pottery. We found some pretty good ones and even an arrow head. This was a pretty fun spring break!

Fishing, Shooting, and Playing on the Farm

Sunday was a great day to play with my family. My grandpa told us that the ditch at the farm was full of fish. So we decided to head over and try our luck. There sure were a lot of fish, unfortunately they didn't want to bite.
It was still fun though. It just felt good to be outside. My dad let me shoot his gun and I am an awesome shot. I hit my target more than once!
I also got to ride around on the four wheeler with my grandpa. We looked at all the new baby calves. They sure were cute! I feel lucky to have such an adventurous place to explore!! What do you like to do on sunny Sunday afternoons?

A visit to Utah's Natural History Museum

We are on a little vacation in Park City. Today we drove down to Salt Lake and toured the Natural History Museum. It is highly recommend. It was our first visit and we had a ton of fun. My favorite things include the Native American art and baskets, the awesome dinosaur exhibits, and the wild life. I defiantly want to go back again someday soon !!!

I Love Art

I recently entered an art contest at my school. The topic was "Trees Are Terrific". I was not only excited to participate in the art contest. I was also excited about the topic. Nature is something I talk about all the time. I love it and love being outside. The hard part was narrowing down all my ideas to one. Luckily I have an artistic and creative dad that helped me in this process. I decided to draw a tree full of animals that use or live in trees. I had an owl, bees, a raven, a squirrel , some doves, a racoon and a deer. It took me several hours but it looked great in the end. I took second place in my grade and it got sent to the state contest. I am so excited!!! What do you like to draw?

Swimming All The Time

My very favorite part of this vacation is the pool. We wake up and swim and end our day with a swim. I am actually the only one that CAN swim. My brothers have to stay where they can touch. But I am free to go to the deep end, do flips and tricks. My dad got in yesterday and we did cheer leading tricks. I would stand on his hands above his head and flip out into the water. What is your favorite part of a vacation?

100 Days of School

Yes, that's right! I have been in school 100 days this year. I have a super fun teacher, Mrs. Webster. She told us we could dress up as if we were 100 years old! We are also going to have 100 item trail mix. I'm bringing chocolate chips to add. It is going to be a great day! What made your day special today??

Coconut Fun

So I was very excited to see that we had a coconut in our produce basket last week. I had to wait several days before my dad was ready to get out the drill and let me try real coconut milk! I liked it but it was not what I expected. I thought it would taste like coconut but it tasted like leaves. My brother, Ladd, didn't like it at all! After we drank some we poured the rest out and it looked like water! It was not even white. I wonder why they call it milk? My dad let Ladd and I try hitting it with a hammer to crack it open. That was awesome! We hit it and hit it. Finally it broke. Then we got to eat the coconut. It was better than the milk. It was so fresh and yummy. I highly recommend trying fresh coconut.

Sewing.... My First Attempt

One of the most exciting gifts I received for Christmas was a sewing machine. My first project was a purse to hold some of my new fabric. It turned out well, but took a lot longer than I thought and even involved some unpicking. It is not as easy as it looks, but I am hooked. What would you create with a sewing machine?

Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

I was very happy to find snow snow snow the day after Christmas. It snowed all day long. I love fresh snow. We jumped on the trampoline, made snow angles, climbed snow hills, and of course had snow fights. What a great day with my brothers! What is your favorite thing about snow?

Christmas Morning

Yes, I was the first to wake Christmas morning. I kindly woke my mom and dad. That was a mistake, they made me wait and wait and wait. Finally I ran in and woke the boys and we found that Santa did come!!! I knew he would because I have been really good. Thankfully he received my letter and gave me just what I asked for, Caroline. Caroline is a beautiful American Girl doll. I had a smile on all day. What was your special surprise Christmas morning?

Christmas Eve

I love our Christmas Eve tradition. Every year we go to my grandparents in Leamington. This year I actually spent the whole day because I needed to finish my mom's gift. I worked all day. The rest of the family came that evening. We ate and waited for our special guest to arrive. Finally we heard his bells and Santa came right to my grandpa's house. It's always good to get one last word to the big guy before Christmas morning! After Santa we got to open our Christmas PJs. Thanks Grandma! I then had my mom open her special gift from me. I had been working on knitting a scarf since July. It turned out great and she was super happy. What was the special gift that you have this year?

Merry Christmas Birds!

I highly recommend making a Christmas bird treat tree. It was so much fun and quite a bit of work. Our whole family ( minus Jack) helped make the popcorn strings. Jack just kept eating the popcorn. We put on four popcorns and then one or two cranberries. It took along time but we finally had enough. Then I helped my mom make bird seed ornaments and tie them with ribbon. When that was done we decorated our outside tree and it was beautiful. Now we just have to wait for the birds......
What fun tradition did you and your family start this year??

A New Haircut and Ears Pierced!

Yes it's true, after seven years of asking (begging) I finally got my ears pierced. How you ask? It all started with my hair appointment. My dad said I really needed to cut cut cut. So while sitting in the chair I noticed that the shorter my hair the more obvious my naked ears were! When I got home I told my dad I thought something was missing. What happened next was unexpected. He numbed up my ears and pierced them right there at the kitchen table!! What a great dad and great day!!!

Question of the day?

Do you think there is someone in China that doesn't like rice?

Waiting at wrestling practice

So one thing that is new, is that during December I spent a lot of time hanging out at wrestling practice. My little brother, Ladd, has practice twice a week and that means that me and my youngest brother, Jack, tag along. My mom says she has to stay in to make sure Ladd listens. So I play around the indoor track. On this day we found all this cotton laying around and decided to play Santa! It was fun. I am sure glad I have a great imagination, it helps time fly? What do you do to pass time when you have to wait somewhere?
